The interior design of the new Vancouver Convention Centre West was developed to be an internationally acclaimed convention facility featuring the strong relationship the building has with its environment, featuring British Columbia products and taking design cues from the natural beauty of British Columbia. The building was specifically designed to take advantage of its amazing site, the views and the scenic beauty of the Burrard Inlet. The interiors try to take advantage of the four primary orientations for the building, to the east Canada Place, to the south downtown Vancouver, to the west Harbour Green Park and to the north Burrard Inlet and North Shore mountains.

The primary interior expression of the building is achieved through the use of natural materials indigenous to British Columbia such as wood, stone, and metal. The ballroom and meeting room programs form the vertical element of the design and are enclosed by an elegant, sophisticated, and warm wood skin. This strong wood expression is especially dramatic at night as the building will glow as both a waterfront beacon and as a destination point from the city.
