This extensive lobby upgrade gutted the entire main floor of a downtown office building. The existing design made inefficient use of the leased retail spaces and the small, constrained lobby offered little in the way of street presence. To rectify these issues, the main floor was extended to enlarge its floor area and the lobby was re-oriented toward the exterior street corner. The concentric circles used on the floor and ceiling, and the horizontal wall bands both visually stretch the lobby and tie it to the elements used on the building’s new exterior. A simple palette of bird’s-eye maple and both blue and black granite create a lush elegance.
