Electronic Arts-Blackbox (15th & 16th Floors) Vancouver, BC The success of Electronic Arts-Black Box “Need For Speed” car racing franchise has lead to the studio expansion to two additional floors and allows EA to have contiguous space from floors 15 to 20. The Program included development team space, meeting rooms, project rooms, audio rooms, game trail theater, editing rooms, IT Build rooms, a Server room and QA testing. The new layout mimics the design of the existing upper floors, with new layered design themes to embody the creative studio vibe. This incorporates the teams desire for an environment that reflects the “Need for Speed” car and racing theme, which includes speeding burn-out marks, tire tracks painted on the concrete, road crossing, and traffic markings signaling direction of travel. A life-sized, wall-mounted car model kit of parts was designed by one of EA’s employees. The highly-effective work environment has been designed with tools to support team collaboration. |
