This challenging project – a new retail banking facility built behind a heritage facade – inspired MCM Interiors Ltd. to create a novel synthesis of function and warm visual appeal designed within the framework of the venerable Chinese tradition of Feng Shui, not as a set of requirements but as a guiding theme throughout the project.

Twirl and curve gently invite patrons to enter. Soothing creams and rich earth tones are brought to life with accents of jade green. Functional areas bathed in indirect light are enhanced by overhead pin-point accent fixtures, completing the image of a cool, shaded sanctuary. Carefully chosen Chinese artwork provides a finishing touch.

The Chinatown bank shows how lively, contemporary treatment of light, colour and space can be brought into harmony with both the dynamism of modern finance and the aesthetic of an ancient civilization.
