Stuart Olson Richmond, BC Stuart Olson, a major construction company, relocated its BC offices to new premises to accommodate a growth in staff and to provide work environments that allowed better dynamics and support space for the various departments. The mandate was to provide a contemporary office space, show casing the corporate values and using construction materials where ever possible. The desire was to provide as much natural light as possible. Support spaces such as meeting rooms, copy, filing and storage areas were located in interior spaces, except for the large training room which is occupied for long periods of time. All open work stations are placed on the perimeter next to the windows. The offices all have full glazed fronts which mimic storefront details to allow light into the interior offices. The office fronts are used as a graphic medium to present the company’s values as well as to introduce colour. The open staff lounge is located on the exterior adjacent to balcony space. Materials such as frameless structural glass supported by spyder clamps, steel I beams, cast concrete counters, exposed steel deck, mechanical ducts and electrical wiring showcase construction materials used for buildings and interiors. Bright colours and contemporary lighting were introduced to create a warm inviting environment. |
